I’ve been having an on-again, off-again relationship with film photography for the last five years or so. It’s expensive, and as the winter comes on I’m having more and more trouble finding the motivation to leave the house when I don’t absolutely have to. Honestly, I haven’t gone out to take photos in months. No passion for it right now. But it’ll come back.
When the photo bug grabs me, it grabs me good. I took this man’s portrait a few years ago at a street fair in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I believe this was about 2023 or so.
This is also one of the first photographs that I scanned from the negatives myself. Doesn’t look too bad, if I do say so myself.
This was taken on my Olympus OM-10. I believe the film was Kodak Color-Plus. I love that film stock. It’s got such a sunny, burning quality. It always reminds me of how summertime felt when I was a kid: Bright, warm, endless. Is that corny? Sure. Doesn’t make it any less true, though.
